What to know about Tarrant County’s proposal to cut polling locations for November election

AUSTIN – A contentious, hourslong meeting Tuesday at the Tarrant County Commissioners Court ended with county leaders voting to delay a proposal to nearly halve the number of Election Day polling places. 

The plan would have slashed the number of voting locations for the November midterm elections to 176, down from the 316 used in the 2022 elections. It also would have cut the number of early voting sites from 50 to 42. Tarrant County has more than 1.3 million registered voters.
